Smooth Travels!
RATIONALE
This project focused on developing a specialized airport assistance kiosk for elderly travelers. We conducted interviews, usability tests, and prototyping to understand their unique challenges.
One of the main issues we addressed was the difficulty elderly travelers face with gate changes and navigating the airport. To alleviate these challenges, we designed a kiosk to provide them with convenient access to gate information, directions to nearby amenities, and real-time flight updates. Our goal was to ensure that elderly travelers could navigate the airport safely, efficiently, and with minimal stress.

COMPREHENSIVE VIDEO WALKTHROUGH
“As time goes on, the world advances without me...”
PHASE 1: RESEARCH
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Conducting empathy mapping was one of the first ways we were able to step into the shoes of our user…
-
Now that we understood the problems, we can walk through their shoes.
-
Based on our user interviews and research, we created Ingrid!
-
We then landed on our solution…
PHASE 2: CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Based on what we learned about elderly travelers previously, we created design principles that align with their needs.
-
-
To guide our prototyping process, we developed an interaction flow model to map out each component's placement and sequence.
-
Here’s the evolution of our prototype! From early iterations to the final…

PHASE 3: DESIGN IMPLEMENTATION
-
The kiosk provides printed directions to nearby amenities and gate locations, enabling passengers to view essential information and receive real-time flight updates and changes.
