Safety First!
Peril Shield addresses the array of safety concerns emphasized in research, by the finding that 59% of women feel unsafe walking down alleys alone. It achieves this by providing real-time danger notifications and an SOS feature to alert friends and family in emergencies.
Moreover, the app integrates an ambient device keychain to discreetly trigger the SOS alert system. This comprehensive approach aims to enhance user safety, particularly in situations where individuals feel most vulnerable.
RATIONALE
Marginalized groups such as women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and children are disproportionately targeted for various crimes, including violence, harassment, and discrimination. Women face higher rates of domestic violence and sexual assault. Members of the LGBTQ+ community often experience hate crimes and discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. Children are vulnerable to abduction, exploitation, and abuse.
These groups often live with heightened concerns for their safety, affecting their daily lives and mental well-being. Peril Shield aims to alleviate some of these concerns by providing a tool for quick and discreet communication in emergencies, offering a sense of security and peace of mind.
